GEORGE is a buttoned-up heart surgeon who's taking his 18 year-old son CONRAD on a tour of potential colleges. EDITH is a strong-willed, free-spirited and successful business woman who's taking her 18 year-old daughter AUDREY on a similar tour. Their paths cross at Middleton College, a "little-Ivy" nestled in the picturesque Connecticut countryside. While we suspect at the outset that this will be the kids' story, it quickly becomes clear that George and Edith are the heart of this movie.
George excuses himself from the tour to attend to an emergency hospital business, while Edith leaves to grab a much-needed coffee. They meet -- but never return to the tour -- and the half-day they subsequently spend together changes their lives forever. Coming from a shared feeling of loss, pure attraction, and a profound need for joy, they share a unique "college" tour all their own, casting off the status-quo that is their lives and diving headlong into experiences they'd never considered before this day.
"Admissions" is the exhilarating story of roads not taken and the hope that tomorrow ultimately brings. It's the story of two people who've been locked in a middle gear for the better part of their marriages that, through a remarkable connection, are able to glimpse the potential that true relationships can still offer. It's funny and it's heartbreaking, but at its heart, it's emotional and it's real.
