Eddie Burton, (Casper Van Dien), has spent much of his young
life going
in and out of prison. Eddie is not a hardened criminal, but
instead a small time punk who is always looking for the easy
way out.
Currently imprisoned, Eddie must reform
or his young son will be placed
in a foster home and he could lose custody. Eddie starts working
on a
horse farm as part of a prison work detail. It is the arrival
of a new horse, "Big Spender" that changes Eddie’s
life forever.
Big Spender (based on a real story) was once a world class
race horse. When he stopped winning, his abusive owner took
his frustration out on
him and then left him for dead. When Big Spender arrives at
the farm
he is covered with sores and near starvation. Worst of all,
he has lost
his will to live.
Eddie and Big Spender immediately
bond. Eddie is given the seemingly hopeless task of saving
the horse. Amazingly, Eddie nurses Big Spender back to health.
Eddie and the horse form an intense bond that inspires
Eddie to transform his own life.
