EXCLUSIVE: LA-based independent movie producer-financier Volcanic Films is launching with a strategic partnership with sales and production company Film Bridge International and a slate of its own films.

Ben Demaree and Justin Hawkins’ Volcanic Films, which we’re told can provide equity investment, has joined Film Bridge’s western Killing Faith as an executive producer. The film stars Oscar nominee Guy Pearce (The Brutalist), Bill Pullman (Independence Day), and DeWanda Wise (Jurassic World Dominion). Written and directed by Ned Crowley, Shout! Studios recently boarded domestic rights and is planning to launch the movie at festivals this year.

Among Volcanic’s own productions are Kaitlyn’s Chance, a family film currently in post-production. Directed by Demaree and produced by Hawkins and Demaree, the cast includes Jennifer Taylor (Two and a Half Men), Jaime King (Hart of Dixie), Sean Patrick Flanery (The Boondock Saints), Chris Mulkey (Captain Phillips), and Samantha Rose Baldwin (Gossip Girl).

Demaree and Hawkins have also joined as executive producers on The Florist, an upcoming action-thriller produced by Film Bridge. Production is set to begin in coming months on the movie about a horticulturalist who moonlights as an assassin. Babak Najafi directs from Eran Creevy’s script. Casting is in process.

The duo are also in pre-production on an untitled crime-thriller written by Chad Law (Lights Out) and Garry Charles (The Getback). Directed by Demaree, the film will be produced by Hawkins and Demaree.

Demaree’s credits as a director include 2018 horror Ouija House with Tara Reid and Mischa Barton. Hawkins acted in, scripted and co-produced the movie.

“Volcanic Films is a cutting-edge company with a dual focus; in-house we produce dynamic feature films with mass audience appeal, while also leveraging our industry expertise and relationships to co-finance a diverse range of films,” said Demaree.

“We’re excited to collaborate with Film Bridge International on these projects. We look forward to bringing these compelling stories to audiences worldwide, and furthering our relationship even more.” added Hawkins.

“We had a great experience working with Volcanic Films on Killing Faith, so we were eager to further our relationship with them on several of our upcoming productions,” commented Film Bridge International’s Dykstra.
